Hobby Round up 2015 Week 7

After a sparse week of hobby last week, this week we have some progress on the hobby front.

First up this week are Elliot's collection of Malifaux Neverborn figures. Chris and Elliot have decided to start playing Malifaux, and Elliot's choice of faction was driven by the chance to use a big teddy bear!

Although you cant see, not they have been undercoated, Elliot has created some cobblestone bases for his miniatures.

Chris has been working on the additions to his Dark Eldar for several months and they are now finally complete. First up, two units of Scourges.

And a last minute addition to this post, a Succubus to lead the Wyches into battle. This picture is suffering lack of light, but you get the idea.

As well as painting Dark Eldar, Chris has been building Night Goblins, with the 80 plastic spear goblins now finished, complete with musician and standard bearer conversions. Just the Clubbers and Netters and Spider Riders to do next...

Hobby Round up 2015 week 5

It's February already! Lets see what we've been doing during the last days of January.

Frazer finished this Churchill and Cromwell last week, just missing the week 4 post.

Big Papa Jon has continued to prepare some Goblins for our future Mordheim campaign.

Chris is continuing to build Night Goblins, and paint Dark Eldar Scourges.

And finally, Neil has been testing some paint schemes for his Napoleonics

Hobby round up 2015 week 2

Welcome to week two of our hobby round up.

First up, originally completed last week, but just too late to post, we have some Shermans, a Cromwell and a Churchill painted by Frazer.

Next up is a work in progress shot of some Dark Eldar Scourges painted by Chris. Since this photo was taken, these five have been finished off, with only their bases to do, which will be done once the next five are finished.

The final work in progress picture for this week is from Big Papa Jon. Jon who is currently residing north of the border will be returning to Bristol in the summer and has dug out some of his Mordheim Goblins. He is preparing them for our campaign which we intend to start later this year.

An last but not least, Wednesday saw games night return. Matt and Frazer played a game of Chain of Command, which they got half way through, and Elliot and Neil played 40k. Below are a few pictures of the 40k game.

Hobby Round Up 2015 Week 1

Welcome to the first Hobby Round Up of 2015. After a quiet last few weeks of 2014, some of us have been busy over the holiday period.

Frazer has been busy finishing off Matt's Modern British Paratroopers to be used in Skirmish Sangin.

Frazer has also been working on some 15mm tanks, hopefully we'll see them finished and on the table soon.

Chris got some new Dark Eldar models for his birthday in October, and the first one, a Voidraven Bomber, is finally finished.

Chris has also done a test figure in preparation to adding 1000pts of Nurgle Warriors of Chaos to his Nurgle Daemons. This is a Nurgle Ogre and was mainly an experiment in using the Games Workshop technical paints, namely Typhus Corrosion, Ryza Rust and Blood for the Blood God.

Hobby Updates

Still eerily quiet in the world of Lone Wolf painting, probably a hang over from the £5 challenge, which incidentally ends tonight.

First up, we have some scatter terrain pieces for Skirmish Sangin that have been started by Frazer. He's doing these along side some British, who will no doubt be happy to take cover behind these next time they hit the table.

I have continued to slowly work on my Dark Eldar Voidraven Bomber, with the crew getting some paint before  attack the main part of the model.

I have also added to my previously small pile of unpainted models by purchasing some bits and bobs off eBay, namely Nagash, 80 Night Goblins and The Fellowship of the Ring; not a bad haul for just under £90.00.

Hobby Updates

A bit later on a Sunday than usual, its hobby update time.

As this was the last week of the £5 challenge, see Tuesdays post, its another quiet week, but hopefully there will be more to report on next week.

First up some modern British from Frazer, who is painting these for Matt. After making their table debut a few weeks ago, its time for them to get their camo on so they don't attract more Taliban bullets too soon.

As I finished my £5 challenge figure last week, I have had time to crack on with something new.

Firstly, I've built the Flying Saucer, Giant Stompy Robot and Flat Bed Truck for Mantic's Mars Attacks game. I doubt these will get any paint on them any time soon, but at least they can now be used.

And finally, I've made a start on my Dark Eldar Voidraven Bomber, with my Razorwing Jetfighter nearby for reference.

Mostly Pleasure, a Little Pain

Well, they're done, finished, completed, well until I decide to add some stuff to them...

1750 points of Dark Eldar are done in time for 6th edition; I finished the Archon and Haemonculus today, varnished the last of my stuff and can tick another project off for 2012.

Below army shot is a little dark in places, but I'll try and get a proper shot of them when they take the battlefield in a week or so for our club's first venture into the new rules.

Next on my paint station are my Flames of War Americans.. USA, USA, USA!

Flying Custard

Another step closer to finishing my Dark Eldar, I have now finished 2 Venoms and a Razorwing jet fighter. This leaves me with my 2 HQ choices to do and 1750pts are done and dusted.

I'm hoping to be all done by my first game of 6th edition, which I would expect will be in around 3 weeks time, so fingers crossed.

Wrack and ruin

Another post, another unit for my Dark Eldar completed, this time its 10 Wracks.

After my praise of how well these finecast beauties had been produced, I will have to retract some of my love for the material.

On closer inspection and after they had been cleaned up, I could see a lot more errors in the cast than previously seen, even so, they have been green stuffed and tidied up and are done and dusted.

Next up, is an Archon and a Haemonculus...

No Pain No Gain

I've not touched my Dark Eldar for a while, but with 6th edition 40k not too far away and my resolution of finishing armies to uphold, they have returned to my painting schedule.

Painting yellow isn't particularly fun, but with a few easy steps, does look pretty good.

I have managed to finish five Incubi, to add to the five I had done previously, and was a little worried that they wouldn't match my previous efforts, but low and behold they fit in perfectly.

Next on my list, and already started, are 10 Wracks...

PS, don't know what's happened to the picture, it seems a little strange, or maybe it's my eyes!

Incubi

Title says it all, first five Dark Eldar Incubi completed. This leaves only the Archon to do to complete my first 1000pts

Which Wych the final instalment

Well they're finally finished, 15 Dark Eldar Wyches.

Although they are armed with an assortment of weapons upgrades, its the 3 sets of Hydra gauntlet's which will probably see the most action. Packing an impressive 43+3D6 attacks on the charge, they should hopefully perform well on the battlefield.

Next on the painting table are 12 Savage Orc Boarboys which includes a Shamen.

On yer (jet)Bike!

With mere hours left until the start of the 1st 1k 40k round robin, I have managed to finish 6 Dark Eldar Jetbikes. Sadly my army wont be completely painted, but I am getting rather sick of yellow and thus getting a bit slow.
Only 13 Wyches, 5 Incubi and a Lord to paint, before I can look at starting the 2nd 1000pts...

And before you ask, all 6 bikes are the same colour, its my crazy photography that makes them look differing shades of yellow!

Ship Shape

I've started to accumulate a number of different projects over the last month which has meant a slight delay on painting the Dark Eldar.

So without further a do, here's an update. I have now finished 12 Dark Eldar Warriors, 2 Raiders and a Ravager. All vehicle weapons are magnetised to switch between Dark Lances or Disintergraters

Next on the list, 6 Jet bikes

I know the pictures a little dark but hey what ya gonna do!

Calling Mr Raider

Happy New Year to you too, Mr Lordybloke!

Anyway my Xmas painting has been slow, but im happy with the results (although once again the pictures are a bit ropey)

I present Dark Eldar Warriors 4,5 and 6. And a Raider, I have built the 'hangers on' but wont be adding them until a later stage in the paint-a-thon

It's only just begun... Again

Anyway, I've done 1 more Dark Eldar, this time with a Shredder, also decided to do the eyes too.
So here's all 3 next to each other...
