It's only just begun... Again

Anyway, I've done 1 more Dark Eldar, this time with a Shredder, also decided to do the eyes too.
So here's all 3 next to each other...

And so it begins, 2 Dark Eldar warriors painted and so far so good. Those with a good eye will see that the scratches on the armour have been removed.

Rattus Ogreus

Got some Island of Blood rat ogres off of Bits N Kits a few weeks ago for £2.50 each, nice!
To stop them being completely identical I got to work with a razorsaw, a few spare bits and a bit of greenstuff.
Add a little dip and the job's a good un!

Totally Addicted to Dip

In the same way that many Imperial scholars of the Old World refuse to believe in the existence of the Skaven I refuse to believe I will ever do a Skaven army.

On a completely unrelated subject here are some models I have dipped recently, just for the hell of it!

Daft Raider

Land Raider done! Just over 3600pts of Slaaneshi Chaos Marines fully painted.
Have got a greater Daemon to do to totally finish but thats in its box not even built yet.
Not going to add any more to the army until Forge World dabble with the Emperors Children.

Now to crack on with some Dark Eldar.....

A Tyranid Hive Tyrant done for Cyrus's son ( yeah right!) hopefully will inspire him to crack on with the rest of the army in time for the next 40k campaign.

The flash makes the highlights look a bit more extreme than they really are...

Giant

It's been half done for about 3 years; I didn't have an army to put it in, but apart from a touch of static grass my giant is done and will be found in my Warriors of Chaos army also only half done.  It will then be found on a battlefield studded with arrows or with a stove in chest.  T5 tsk tsk who writes these army books?

You can never start too soon

Binx and I have finished the current crop of Tau, 3 hammer head and a skyray turret along with 37 assorted firewarriors and pathfinders - dipped ;o). 

Also finished are 10 Templars scouts, neophytes, human shield or whatever you prefer to call them

Jezzails for the frugally inclined

I know it's been a while since I raised my head above the parapet, but the guys up here don't play WHFB or 40K, so things have been a bit lax on that front, and army building has kind of dropped off as a result.  Got some nice 10/15mm skirmish forces done, though :)

But, figuring that it would be nice to do some work on a GW model or two, I found an interesting conversion on underempire.net that got my attention.  Someone had given plastic Clanrats Kroot arms to make Jezzails. Looked okay, if you can accept the long arms and bird-claw hands.

I couldn't accept that, but the left arm was a P.I.T.A.  Still not sure if it looks right...

Random musings: Suicidal Tendencies

It's not just our group that's noticed it. I've seen Binx and Tomarse use this to some effect (plague furnace into a big hole!) and I'll be honest I'm not sure I'm keen! Seems a bit gamey?

However its going to be a feature of 8th Edition and I'm also not saying I'll never try something similar!

Chaos Marine Chosen are done, 16 days behind schedule, now onto the Terminators, hopefully done by the end of the month (although im sure they will run into November)

After them just a Landraider and a Keeper of Secrets to do and thats 3700pts painted.

Rather than a picture of just my completed unit I thought Id show my paint station instead.

Last time some of the Lonewolves went to Games Day was when WFB 7th edition was released so to keep the tradition alive, now that 8th edition is out some of us are going again.

Its Elliots first time so we'll have to look after him, we've even got seminar tickets this time so should be fun.

Watch out for random texts and photos as we spot stuff, and who knows I might buy some stuff...

Almost there

A few days behind schedule I have finished Augusts quota. This time it was 2 rhinos and my 2nd Defiler.

Below is a picture of my Slaaneshi force so far, with just a squad of Chosen to do to finish all the models I have built for my Chaos. Just leaves 5 Terminators, a Landraider and a Keeper of Secrets hidden away in their boxes for the near future.

After this month its back to Lizards and Vampires, to finish off them before 2010 comes to an end.

Random Musings: Frenzy in 8th

Just spotted that if you're frenzied you don't get to use the 6+ ward save "parry".
Go check it out on P88.
It goes on to imply Dizzee Rascal wouldn't get the parry save either.......

Its been a while....

Its taken a while ( about 5 or 6 weeks ) but the Chaos Bikes are finally done ( I know the pictures a little dark). Oh and I did a Chaos Lord too just for fun.

Not a great deal left to do to 'finish' my Emperors Children, well I say that just after acquiring some Terminators and a Land Raider....

Some progress, not as much as I would like, all the WoC figures I have are now base coated and if you look carefully I have 4 test figures finished.

All I need now is Cortez to finish off his debt and provide me with the marauders I need....

Random Musings: Choosing spells

8th Ed magic.

We have the new battle magic deck o cards - cool! But check this (out of context!) snippet from a random blog:

Keep in mind, you still need to ROLL for your spells. The Master Manipulator (every store needs one) pointed this out to me in our game yesterday... remember, you can choose the spell you want if you roll doubles, so don't deprive yourself of the chance by drawing cards from the deck!

Not much action on the Blog recently so I thought that a quick snap of my WiP would have to do for the moment.  The stroll by painting is back up and running and the occassional 10 mins of brush time I can grab as I walk past adds up over a week.

Random Musings: WFB 8th Ed

Soooo I've been looking at some of the (confirmed) rumours for the new edition of warhammer and whilst on the whole I'm waiting to see the finished product for myself I thought I'd pick up on a small point that's changed - army selection.

Its going back to a percentage system.

25% max lords (includes mounts)

25% max heroes

25% MIN core

50% max special

25% max rare

Good thing? Bad thing? I really don't know at this stage but one thing that occured to me is most armies could easily fit 2 lords into a 2000 pt army.

You could get a LOT of goblin lords for 500pts!

Dipping Dread

As mention somewhere else on this blog I dipped a dread, largely to see if it was possible.
It got dunked in the can about half way then I let the dip run all over the model with a bit of gentle prodding with a cotton bud!
Finished the base today, still needs a small blast of anti shine varnish.
For less than an hours work I reckon its doing ok!

Haven't stuck the arms on as I'll try and get hold of a right close combat arm for some occasional Furioso action.

Blood for the .....err... Emperor!!

Warming up for the campaign 2 hastily constructed ICs, Captain Ortranto Ganzfeld and Sanguinary priest Labrunna.The captain in particular took a ridiculously short time to glue and paint.
I actually did a double take when I put him back on the painting table with a thought of "he's ready for dip" as only about 10 mins had gone by since I started on him!
Really liking the black dip, produces much more definite lines.
I have a squad almost ready for their dip too...

Might actually swap this piccy for a lighter one when I get a minute!

Very happy with the results.

Some general excuses about lighting in the picture etc the red is a lot brighter in real life!

Bloody Priest!

With the red thirst still flowing through my veins I continue playing about with the Blood Angels!
Slapped this Sanguinary Priest together quite quickly using some random bits including a medic model I've had laying about for at least 10 years and probably longer!
The green (should have used brown I'm thinking now) stuff needs a bit of filing but I hope to get it sprayed today.
Tomorrow should see the colours done and the dipping!

Continued Curiousity....

Sooooo, you look at your test trooper Smik and decide you're quite happy with the result BUT you've already started a white scar army and should really finish that first!

What do you do?

Luckily you have about 5 mins before you head off for lunch and know exactly where to find a white trooper Smik (2!) that just needs a bit of red before you can dip him!

Before you know it the pipe grips are swinging again!

Not overly happy with the result, looks a little messier on the white so I'll be sticking to the fine lining pens for the Scars.

Oh well, you've got to try these things!

Curiousity.....

Soooooo, its Sunday afternoon, you're going out for a late lunch and have a bit of time to kill so what happens?

Your mind starts to wander and you wonder what a marine would look like if you dipped it, right?

So you whip out your red spray, find yourself a trooper Smik and before you know it you're waving your pipe grips around trying not to launch Smik up the garden.

Does it work?

In the spirit of the less competitive approach to gaming this year, whilst we are all pondering on what army composition to take for the up coming 40K campaign, I thought I would publish my 1500 point army list.  The 750 point list is still being debated but will not include anything from the list below

This is all taken from the Chaos Marine army I have in the cabinet and the only modifications I have made is to include a powerfist with each squad to improve the anti armour capability.  In the past Berserkers have spent entire games in combat with dreadnoughts with no chance of winning

Easter weekend has come and gone and it seems at least a few of us had a chance to get some painting done.
I've cleared the terrain backlog I've had for a while with the second lot of planetstrike craters and the battlescape all finally finished.
Quite pleased with how the rhino has come out.

Will be bringing it all on Weds night.
