The £5 Challenge - The Auctions

After a few weeks of frenzied painting, our auctions are on eBay and we're all waiting in anticipation to see if our profits will buy us a slap up meal, or a child's portion of chips from the takeaway.

So here are the auctions, click the links to bid....

So that's the six auctions up and ready and waiting for your bid, sadly Matt's Chaplain didn't make it as it was smashed into many pieces just after this photo was taken.

The £5 Challenge Part 3

With under a week to go before our figures return to eBay, lets see how everyone is getting on...

First up, Elliot who has almost finished his Ork Warboss, with just the gun and base to do.

Frazer is making steady progress with his Long Fang sergeant, with the face and beard now completed.

Simon has done most of the work on his Chaos champion, with the weapon, bone and base to be done.

Neil's Librarian is coming along well, and even has a unique stone clad base ready for it to stand on

Chris is the first person to finish his figure, although the picture isn't doing the paint job justice, hopefully he'll be able to get a better one done at games night this week before listing on Sunday

The £5 Challenge Part 2

One week has passed since we all declared our modes for the £5 challenge, so how has everyone progressed?

At the time of writing this, not everyone has provided a picture, but we'll go with what we have.

Elliot has done a lot of work on his Ork, with the skin, and the main challenge of the face yet to do.

Neil has managed to build and then undercoat his librarian, some more beautifully manicured nails...

Next is my Chaos Lord. The red and bone is done, the gold need another highlight or two, after that its onto the cloak, and the as yet unattached sword.

Frazer has given his miniature a cool base and a chainfist. he's now primed and ready for some colour.

Finally, Matt has decorated a plate, and used it to present the parts of his complicated Space Marine Chaplain conversion.

Next week we'll be two thirds through, what will the models look like with seven days to go?

The £5 Challenge

Welcome to a new Tuesday feature for November, The £5 Challenge

Last week we saw a tweet from @vidpui who mentioned a £5 challenge he had taken part in, where by he bought some model bits for under £5 and had built/converted what he had acquired, and resold them on eBay for a profit of £26.85.

Then we heard about @PaintedbyG who had bought the Space Wolf librarian Njal Stormcaller off eBay as part of another £5 challenge and had then sold it for £177.50!

@PaintedbyG's big profit miniature
So with these two success stories came the decision to do a club £5 challenge, with the following rules...

- Model must be purchased off eBay for £5.00 or less (not including P&P)
- After painting/converting the model, it must be back on eBay by the 23rd November with a one week sale, to end on the 30th November.
- The club member who makes the most profit (not including P&P) will be the winner.

Once the contest is over we intend to pool all our profits and depending on how much it is, either go out for a meal, or buy a bag of chips for a Wednesday games night.

So with these rules in mind, here is what we have bought in order to make some cash.

Chris:

I scoured eBay for something I fancied painting, and even though I already have two of these models unpainted somewhere in my many bits boxes, went for the Chaos Lord from the Dark Vengeance box set.

Frazer:

Frazer also plumped for a model he already owns, this time an out of production Space Wolf Long Fang sergeant.

Matt:

Matt bounced around eBay with many options to choose from, and eventually went for this limited edition Space Marine Captain

Neil:

Another model from the Dark Vengeance box set for Neil. Well actually he managed to pick up two, we'll see what one he goes for later.
Simon:

Another Chaos Space Marine for Simon. This one has already had one attempt at being painted, so hopefully there wont be any loss of detail to contend with.

Elliot:

Elliot has bucked the trend of power armoured models and gone for a plastic Ork Warboss

Next Door Matt:

And last but not least is Matt who has plumped for another model from the Dark Vengeance box.
